How has QUT ePrints helped your research?

The Library would like to hear some positive stories about your QUT ePrint experience.  This feedback will help us encourage others in the QUT research community to see that self archiving their publications in QUT ePrints has many benefits.

 To enter the competition, simply send us a few phrases or anecdotes about how QUT’s open access repository has assisted you.  For example, has QUT ePrints:

  • made your work more visible to the wider world?
  • increased your citation count?
  • allowed you to discover new research partners, or contacts in the community?
  • help inform where and with whom you study?

CMD requests for Summer Semester and Semester 1, 2010

This is a reminder to submit Course Materials Database (CMD) requests for Summer Semester and Semester 1, 2010.

Please note the upcoming submission dates for Summer Semester and Semester 1, 2010 units:

Summer Semester units:
 New CMD requests – to be submitted now
 Self activate single documents – to be completed now

Semester 1, 2010 units:
• Self activate multiple CMD documents – from January 1, 2010
• Self activate single documents – able to be completed now
• New CMD requests – to be submitted by 5 February 2010 (if required for Week 1)

RESEARCH SUPPORT SEMINAR: Managing Research Data

This is a generic research support seminar that will outline how to manage your research data.

When: Thursday 10 December 2009, 10:30am – 11:30am

Paula Callan : eResearch Access Coordinator, Library.
Lance De Vine : IT Specialist, Research Support, High Performance Computing.

This workshop will discuss the main issues that should be the focus of any data management plan including:

Establishing the ownership of the data
Determining requirements for documentation
Data organisation (including version-control and filenaming)
Durable formats which will last until the end of the retention period (and beyond)
Storage options
Managing access appropriately
Options for publishing data
Secure disposal

New EBSCOHost mobile interface

EBSCOHost are excited to announce that the anticipated new interface for mobile users, EBSCOhost Mobile, is here! The new EBSCOhost application is tailor-made for the smaller screens of mobile devices, and offers the most important EBSCOhost features and functionality, right in the palm of your hand!

To get started on using your mobile device to access your EBSCOhost resources, simply review this FAQ and learn about:
• the many features of EBSCOhost Mobile
• how to access the application
• which devices are supported

If you need assistance setting up a new profile for EBSCOhost Mobile, please communicate with EBSCO’s Technical Support Representatives online, via EBSCO’s Support Form, and remember to allow one to two weeks for setup time. Also new on EBSCOhost are several enhancements to streamline the Alerts creation process, described here.

You’re invited to attend the research support seminar “Using the online survey tool Key Survey, for research”.  Key Survey is easy to use software that delivers all the features you need to conduct sophisticated online surveys.
