The Journal of the Economic Society of Australia (Queensland) “Economic Analysis and Policy” has recently been made ‘open access’. This is a huge breakthrough in open access publishing. All EAP papers since its inception in 1970 can now be accessed online free of charge. It has an Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) rank of C. It is well to consider that this rank was given before the journal was completely overhauled by a team of academics at QUT School of Economics and Finance in 2008. The editors are aiming for a higher ranking in the years to come.

Table of Contents include : Policy Debates and Controversies, Recent Trends in Economic Research, Practitioners’ Forum, Book Reviews

Integrated Literacy Program 2009

November 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The TALSS staff ( Kate Derrington and Mandy King) who have been teaching  the academic literacy program and supporting students as Academic Skills Advisors are now part of the Library service.  Together we are building an integrated literacy program which translates to a better alignment of the scheduling of Library and TALSS sessions both in content and timetabling.  We are putting together an Orientation Program for Semester 1, 2009.  The will be posted in the Library Foyer so that staff and  students can see at one glance what is happening for that week in the library and in addition the program will be promoted to academic staff.   Each week has a theme which will be promoted by the TILS Communication team who will  provide us with signage and in time emailing to students.  Registration for a session will be via kickstart/studysmart.

The sessions offered by Kate and Mandy are open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.    Research students are encouraged to come to the sessions.  There are  weekly topics such as Reading at University,  Academic Writing, Effective study time management skills, Editing and Proofreading, Group Work without Gripes, and an in depth sessio on Plagiarism.
