Library trials new databases for 2008

Feedback is welcomed and can be directed to your liaison librarian. The following library electronic databases are available now for staff and students to evaluate during 2008:
SAGE Premier Journals Online

SAGE is a database of over 452 online journals published by SAGE Publications. These journals are made available following library participation in a Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL) agreement with SAGE. Through this three-year agreement, access to the SAGE Premier collection of journals is available via SAGE Journals Online, SAGE’s online journal delivery platform, including back-files to 1999.

Isinolaw was founded by a group of Chinese legal professionals and entrepreneurs and is the world’s first certified online bilingual provider of Chinese laws. A comprehensive database of legal information for the People’s Republic of China, Isinolaw contains authoritative English translations of statutes, judicial interpretations, cases, arbitration awards and other legal matters. The database also details the latest changes in Chinese law in response to WTO requirements.

It is the largest database of “Calls for Papers” encompassing all disciplines and is international in scope. It is updated 3 times a month with email alerts available after each update. You can browse by subject specialization or search by keywords. Personalization features include, My Account, My Calendar, My Favourites and My Planner.

As the world’s largest online database of new consumer packaged goods, Productscan Online provides clients with a unique global awareness tool of new product launches. Broad product categories include health and beauty aids, food, beverages and household products, pet products as well as a miscellaneous area. Within these broad categories, in-depth coverage spanning 145 individual product categories exists. Coverage includes Canada and America and dates from 1980 onwards and information is updated five times per month.

QUT Library Catalogue : My Library Profile : RSS Feed Functionality Enable

RSS feed functionality has been enabled in My Library Profile on the QUT Library catalogue. By adding the My Library Profile RSS feed (look for the RSS icon ) to your favourite RSS reader (such as Google Reader or use the built-in readers in Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox) you can now receive notification when: a hold or intercampus loan is waiting to be collected , an item is due back soon ,an item is due back today ,an item is overdue ,an item has been recalled due to someone else placing a hold.

New Product: The Learning Federation

The Learning Federation (TLF) provides high quality online curriculum content in two formats: interactive multimedia learning objects and digital resources. The content developed by The Learning Federation (TLF) is made up of over five thousand Learning Objects and Digital Resources. Please note: This product currently has different access mechanisms for students vs staff. Please contact Janet Baker #82719, j2.baker@qut.edu.au for details
You will need to use your university email address, provide some personal details and establish a password. Library Systems is working on an improved access mechanism (based on authentication).
